Job summary

Amada Senior Care of Los Altos is seeking compassionate caregivers to provide non-medical personal care and companionship in clients’ homes across Los Altos, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and nearby communities.

You will follow written care plans, assist with daily living activities, and ensure clients stay safe and independent at home. We offer competitive pay, weekly pay, and opportunities for ongoing training and advancement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of caregiving experience, professional or family.
• Registered, or able to register, as a Home Care Aide (HCA) with the California Department of Social Services.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the last year (or willingness to obtain one before first shift).
• Must be 18 or older.
• Reliable mode of transportation or means to get around.
• Ability to read and follow written care plans and write clear care notes in English.
• Completion of Amada Senior Care orientation and state-required annual training (paid).

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADL): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Provide companionship and engage clients in activities.
• Plan and prepare meals and follow dietary care plans.
• Perform light housekeeping and meal cleanup.
• Provide non-medical medication reminders as needed.
• Escort or drive clients to appointments and errands.
• Provide respite care to support families.
• Observe and report changes in client condition to supervisor.
• Document care notes and hours using the mobile app.
• Follow care plans and protect client confidentiality.
• Attend orientation and ongoing trainings.

We're a locally owned, state-licensed home care agency helping seniors stay safe and independent at home in Los Altos, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and nearby communities. We put our caregivers first: weekly pay, W-2 employment, paid training, and an office team that picks up when you call.

As a caregiver, you will provide non-medical personal care and companionship in clients' homes, following a written care plan. You will be a trusted presence in someone's daily life, and the difference between a client staying at home and moving to a facility.

• Competitive hourly pay: $21 - $25 per hour, based on experience and certifications

What you'll do

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADL): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
• Provide companionship, conversation, and encouragement of activities that keep clients engaged
• Plan and prepare meals, and support any special diet outlined in the care plan
• Perform light housekeeping: laundry, changing beds, dishes, kitchen and bathroom cleanup
• Provide medication reminders (non-medical) as specified in the care plan
• Escort or drive clients to appointments, errands, and outings
• Provide respite care so family caregivers can take a break
• Supervise the home environment and report unsafe conditions to your supervisor
• Observe and report changes in a client's physical condition, behavior, or cognition
• Document care notes and hours after each visit using our mobile app
• Follow the written plan of care and agency policies, and keep client information confidential
• Attend orientation, in-service training, and occasional staff meetings

Requirements

• Must be 18 or older
• Registered, or able to register, as a Home Care Aide (HCA) with the California Department of Social Services, including DOJ/FBI Live Scan background clearance (we will guide you through this)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the last year (or willingness to obtain one before your first shift)
• Minimum 1 year of caregiving experience, professional or family, or a CNA/HHA certificate (or equivalent experience)
• Reliable mode of transportation or way of getting around
• Smartphone for scheduling, clocking in and out, and care notes
• Ability to read and follow written care plans and write clear care notes in English
• Good judgment about when to escalation a situation, including calling 911
• Completion of Amada Senior Care orientation and the state-required annual training (paid)

Nice to have

• CPR / First Aid certification
• CNA or HHA certificate
• Experience with dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or hospice care
• Bilingual: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Russian, or another language spoken in our community
