Job summary

Nurse Next Door is seeking a Caregiver in Idaho to provide companionship and support in clients' homes. You will follow care plans, assist with daily activities, and help maintain a safe, clean living environment while promoting comfort and well-being.

The role includes helping with meals, light housekeeping, shopping, and accompanying clients to appointments or outings. A high school diploma and reliable driving record are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Training in human development, interpersonal relationships, nutrition, shopping, food storage, safety.
• Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship through reading, conversation, and listening.
• Participate in appropriate recreational activities for social and sensory stimulation.
• Assist client with phone calls, letters, etc.
• Maintain a safe home environment.
• Accompany client to walks, trips, appointments.
• Inform Agency Manager/Care Designer of changes in assignment.
• Provide emotional support and promote well-being.
• Assist with meals as needed.
• Light housekeeping and laundering to maintain a clean environment.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Grocery shopping with or without client.
• Use equipment and supplies safely.

Job Overview:

The Caregiver provides companionship to those individuals requiring socialization and/or minimum guidance to assure a protected environment and performs home management services within the client’s home. The Caregiver follows the service plan and promotes quality, continuity and safety of a client.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Caregiver includes, but is not limited to the following:

1. Provides companionship by reading, conversation, and listening.

2. Participates in appropriate recreational activities and hobbies for social and sensory stimulation.

3. Assists client in completing necessary phone calls, letter writing, etc.

4. Maintains a safe home environment for the client.

5. Accompanies client on walks, community trips, doctor’s office, bank, etc.

6. Informs Agency Manager/Care Designer of any changes in assignment.

7. Provides emotional support and promotes a sense of well-being.

8. May prepare meals.

9. May perform light housework and laundering of clothing to maintain a clean, neat environment.

10. Assists in the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment.

11. Grocery shopping with or without a client.

12. Uses equipment and supplies safely and properly.

Education And/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent preferred.

• Training in the topics related to human development and interpersonal relationships, nutrition,

  shopping, food storage, use of equipment and supplies, planning and organizing of household tasks

  and principals of cleanliness and safety.

• Clean driving record

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively with patient/client, family members, clinical management, and staff.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,

Physical Demands

• The work requires light physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis such as: driving and light housekeeping.
