Job summary

Nurse Next Door in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, is seeking compassionate Caregivers to support seniors in their homes, following a care plan to promote safety and quality of life. Responsibilities include companionship, helping with daily tasks, light housekeeping, meals, errands, and alerting the Agency Manager to changes.

A valid GED or high school diploma and a clean driving record are preferred; training in health-related topics is welcome.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Training in topics related to human development and interpersonal relationships, nutrition, shopping, food storage, use of equipment and supplies, planning and organizing household tasks and cleanliness and safety.
• Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provides companionship to clients.
• Assists client with phone calls, letter writing, etc.
• Maintains a safe home environment for the client.
• Accompanies client on walks, community trips, doctors appointments, errands.
• Informs Agency Manager/Care Designer of any changes in assignment.
• Provides emotional support and promotes well-being.
• May assist with peri-care, shower-assists, or personal care.
• May prepare meals.
• May perform light housework and laundry.
• Assists in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Grocery shopping with or without a client.
• Administers medications reminders or administration (with certification).

Job Overview:

We're looking for compassionate Caregivers to support seniors in their homes requiring socialization and/or guidance to assure a protected environment. The Caregiver will follow a service/care plan and promote quality, continuity, and safety of a client.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides companionship
• Assists client in completing necessary phone calls, letter writing, etc.
• Maintains a safe home environment for the client
• Accompanies client on walks, community trips, doctor's office, bank, etc.
• Informs Agency Manager/Care Designer of any changes in assignment
• Provides emotional support and promotes a sense of well-being
• Possible Peri-care, shower-assists, personal care
• May prepare meals
• May perform light housework and laundry
• Assists in the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment
• Grocery shopping with or without a client
• Uses equipment and supplies safely and properly
• Medication reminders or administration (with certification)

Education And/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent preferred
• Training in the topics related to human development and interpersonal relationships, nutrition, shopping, food storage, use of equipment and supplies, planning and organizing of household tasks and principles of cleanliness and safety
• Clean driving record

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively with patient/client, family members, clinical management, and staff
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Communication skills, light housekeeping skills, cooking, cleaning, and shopping
• Caring attitude, tact, patience, and good personal hygiene

Physical Demands:

• The work requires light physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis such as driving and light housekeeping
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
• The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear, and taste or smell
• The employee is occasionally required to sit
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
