Job summary

Charlotte County Public Schools seeks a Career Counselor/Coordinator to implement the career planning guide and support students toward college, career, or military paths. You will lead staff in applying the framework and deliver guidance programs and events.

The role requires a Florida teaching certificate, strong communication, and experience with career resources. You will organize field trips, fairs, FAFSA/FFAA support, and partnerships with local employers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • Valid Florida teaching certification for the applicable subject area or grade level.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to liaise with local businesses, postsecondary institutions and community organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the implementation of the school's career planning guide and ensure consistent application.
  • Facilitate student progress toward the 3 E checklist (enrolled, enlisted, or employed).
  • Provide career counseling sessions, workshops, and resources for students exploring their options.
  • Inform administration about student completion status of the career planning guide.
  • Deliver presentations to students, parents, and faculty about the guide and its benefits.
  • Represent the school at district-level career planning meetings and share information with staff.
  • Lead trainer for the state-approved career planning software and train staff and students.
  • Organize career exploration activities, including presentations, field trips, and industry partner activities.
  • Plan and execute college and career fairs, connecting students with higher education and employers.
  • Develop partnerships with employers, postsecondary institutions, and military recruiters.
  • Assist students with FAFSA/FFAA completion and scholarship opportunities.
  • Maintain a listing of employment opportunities and help students with job search and interview skills.
  • Coordinate college and career exam administration (e.g., SAT, ACT, ASVAB).
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
