Job summary

Charlotte County Public Schools seeks a Career Specialist at Charlotte Tech College 0161 in Port Charlotte, Florida to lead career planning and engagement with students, families, and community partners.

  • Valid Florida Teacher Certification in an applicable subject area or grade level.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the implementation of the school's career planning guide, ensuring consistent application and administration.
  • Facilitates student progress and completion towards their 3 E checklist (enrolled, enlisted, or employed).
  • Provides career counseling sessions, workshops, and resources for students to explore their chosen E (enrolled, enlisted, or employed).
  • Keeps the school's administration team informed about the status of student completion of the career planning guide.
  • Delivers presentations to students, parents, and faculty about the career planning guide and its benefits.
  • Represents the school at district-level career planning guide meetings and share relevant information with the administration and staff.
  • Acts as the lead trainer for the state-approved career planning software, guiding and training staff and students.
  • Organizes career exploration activities, including presentations, field trips, and industry partner activities.
  • Plans and executes the school's college and career fairs, connecting students with higher education representatives and potential employers.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with employers, postsecondary institutions, and military recruiters.
  • Assists students with FAFSA and FFAA completion, as well as scholarship opportunities.
  • Maintains a listing of employment opportunities and assist students with job search, interview preparation, and employment skills.
  • Facilitates college and career exam administration (ex., SAT, ACT, ASVAB).
  • Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned.
