MUST BE AN ACTIVE CCU STUDENT.
The Career Services Consultant plays a vital role in supporting the professional development and career readiness of Coastal Carolina University students and alumni. This position provides individualized guidance, facilitates career exploration, and contributes to major campus‑wide career initiatives. Consultants serve as front‑line representatives of the Career Services Center, ensuring that every student receives knowledgeable, high‑quality support as they prepare for internships, employment opportunities, and long‑term career success.
The primary area of responsibility for this role is fulfilled through the campus‑wide career initiative, Career Services On the Go (CSotG). CSotG is held each Monday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. and resumes from 1:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m. Consultants are expected to be available during all scheduled CSotG hours to provide timely, accessible career support to students and alumni across campus.
Consultants are responsible for managing front‑desk operations within the Career Services Center, including greeting guests, answering phone calls, and entering and scheduling appointments.
As student workers, Consultants also contribute to marketing efforts by actively promoting Career Services across campus. Through their constant presence and peer connections, word‑of‑mouth serves as a key method of outreach, and Consultants are expected to share information about Career Services resources and opportunities.
Consultants support the development and visibility of the CCU Career Services brand through coaching, outreach, and event engagement while empowering students to confidently navigate their career paths and encouraging intentional, proactive career development across campus.
Beyond direct student support, Consultants play a key role in advancing the office’s effectiveness by maintaining an ongoing benchmark research agenda that analyzes peer institutions, aspirant universities, Sun Belt Conference schools, and other South Carolina public institutions. Research is regularly synthesized and presented to staff, informing strategic decision‑making and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based career readiness services. As a representative of the Career Service Department, it is crucial to provide a welcoming, patient, and supportive environment for all visitors.
Applicants must be currently enrolled as a Coastal Carolina University student.
