Job summary

The Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island is seeking a Career Services Case Manager for the CRED program, focusing on engagement and retention of participants within Workforce initiatives.

You will support the broader Career Services team, working with the CRED portfolio to provide holistic career development services for Staten Island residents.

Qualifications

  • Experience understanding social service needs of the CRED target population (18-40, involved with city systems).
  • Experience managing caseloads.
  • Knowledge of social services, benefits and entitlements.

Responsibilities

  • Devise and administer service needs assessments for participants.
  • Coordinate with Mental Health Professional and referral agencies as needed.
  • Provide case management and encourage participant engagement and retention.
  • Navigate benefits and entitlements to help participants access resources.
  • Connect participants to JCC departments and external agencies for training resources.
  • Identify and address barriers to program completion with participants.
  • Track progress toward participant goals.
  • Escalate cases to mental health professionals as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the broader CRED team to provide holistic support.
  • All other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Career Services Case Manager is responsible for working in the CRED program to provide case management and encourage participant engagement and retention.

This role is responsible for working in the Career Services department which focuses on Community Workforce programs, CRED (Career Readiness, Employment, and Development), and the UJA-funded Keystone initiative, which provides career development, workforce support, and employment-related services with a particular focus on serving members of the observant Jewish community. Together, these initiatives provide career pathways, training opportunities, job placement services, workforce supports, and economic mobility opportunities for Staten Island residents.

ABOUT YOU

You are dynamic, strategic, and mission-driven who will provide support for the broader Career Services team during outreach and intake. You will work with the agency's workforce development and career advancement portfolio.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Devise and administer service needs assessment, identifying supportive services or other needs a participant needs to be successful in the program, for each participant.
  • Work with Mental Health Professional and referral agencies as needed.
  • Provide case management and encourage participant engagement and retention.
  • Leverage knowledge of benefits and entitlements and ability to navigate complex systems and agencies to assist participants in obtaining resources to successfully complete training.
  • Connect participants to JCC departments and external agencies that may provide tools and resources to assist participants to successfully complete training.
  • Work with participants to identify and work through barriers to program completion.
  • Work with participants to track progress made towards goals.
  • Escalate cases as appropriate to program mental health professional.
  • Work seamlessly with broader CRED team to provide holistic support to all participants.
  • All other tasks as administered by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Successful experience supporting and demonstrated understanding of social service needs of the CRED target population: under/unemployed adults 18-40, involved in the criminal justice system or impacted by community violence
  • Demonstrated experience supporting case loads
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social services/benefits and entitlements
  • Case management experience
  • Demonstrated cultural competence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field and experience working with City systems such as public assistance, child welfare, education, and housing; or
  • Associate’s degree and experience working with City systems such as public assistance, child welfare, education, and housing; or
  • At least three (3) years successful experience in providing case management/counseling and working with City systems such as public assistance, child welfare, education, and housing.
SALARY

This is a full-time, in-person position, $50,000 Annually.
