Career Services Advising Fellow

Location: Elon University Campus, Elon Main Campus

Job Summary: The Career Advising Fellow is a full‑time, one‑year appointment (potential to extend) supporting the Student Professional Development Center (SPDC) in preparing students in health sciences for professional careers. The Fellow provides individual and group advising, co‑teaches career courses, assists in program development, event planning, and collaborates across campus to support the SPDC mission.

Compensation and Benefits: $2,680 monthly stipend; on‑campus housing; meal plan; comprehensive employee benefits including health insurance, paid holidays, vacation/sick leave; eligibility for tuition remission and other university benefits.

Job Responsibilities
Career Advising and Student Support
  • Provide one‑on‑one and drop‑in advising for students in BSN, ABSN, MPAS, DPT programs and other schools as needed.
  • Assist students in exploring majors and careers, developing search strategies, crafting application and residency materials, LinkedIn profiles, and interview preparation.
  • Support students pursuing advanced practice nursing, specialty residency, and further graduate or professional education.
  • Assess and gather data to evaluate the efficacy of services provided to School of Health Sciences students.
Teaching and Course Support
  • Co‑teach career exploration and education courses focused on professional preparation.
  • Support application‑year courses for graduate and professional school preparation.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, grading, and classroom facilitation of an integrated career curriculum in the School of Health Science.
Program Development and Event Support
  • Assist in design and execution of professional development programs and events, both in‑person and virtual, targeting transition of School of Health Science graduates.
  • Collaborate with SPDC colleagues to promote inclusive, high‑impact programming for diverse student populations.
  • Partner with Corporate & Employer Relations and faculty to co‑brand initiatives such as Nursing Career Day and PA Studies Alumni & Employer panels.
Campus Collaboration and Outreach
  • Build partnerships with faculty, staff, and campus offices (e.g., Residence Life) to promote SPDC resources and deliver tailored programming.
  • Engage in cross‑campus initiatives that enhance student professional readiness and community engagement.
Professional and Personal Development
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including conferences, workshops, and campus leadership initiatives.
  • Engage in continuous learning and reflective practice in career services and student affairs.
  • Travel to conferences and workshops focused on healthcare workforce development as needed.
Inclusive Community Building
  • Demonstrate engagement with Elon’s commitment to inclusive excellence and community building.
Qualifications

Required Training and Licensing
