Job summary

The Career Preparation Instructor at Eckerd Connects supports youth through the Job Corps program in Laredo, Texas. You will present instruction in designated subject areas, maintain classroom discipline, and build strong rapport with students to maximize learning.

Responsibilities include meeting SMART goals, preparing materials, managing attendance, and leveraging curriculum resources to engage disadvantaged youth. A High School diploma is required, with a preference for an education degree.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • The Career Preparation Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area.

  • The Career Preparation Instructor meets SMART Goals established by management every Program Year.

  • Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning and student motivation.

  • Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport; u tilizes all possible curriculum resources available.

  • Responsible for adequate classroom preparation, student folders, and daily attendance; m aintains student personnel folders.


Qualifications



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Prefer Bachelor's degree in Education with a major in English, Social Studies, or related field.

  • Prefer one year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth.

  • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record preferred.

  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
