Job summary

Eckerd Connects in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a Career Counselor to support students across personal, social, vocational, and educational development. You will guide students toward continuing education or entering further training and help connect them with community resources for a successful transition from school to work.

You will assist in setting goals, identifying strengths and career challenges, and facilitate small-group sessions on employability and career readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 15 semester hours of Social Sciences or related area.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a counseling capacity or related field; Job Corps experience preferred.
  • Valid State driver's license preferred.
  • Background check required (nationwide).
  • Drug screen required per policy.

Responsibilities

  • The Career Counselor is responsible for counseling students in all aspects of center life, e.g., personal and social development, vocational and educational training.
  • Provides assistance to students in continuing their education or entering into additional training; connects with community services for successful transition from school to work.
  • Assists students in setting short and long-term goals, identifying strengths and career challenges and resolution of personal issues affecting career readiness.
  • Co-facilitates small group social skills sessions including employability skills and career success standards.
  • Conducts intake interview for new enrollees within 48 hours of onboarding.
  • Monitors students' attendance per department protocols; addresses conduct issues and arranges interventions to address below-expectations performance.
  • Is assigned Counselor on Duty for weekends in a rotational order.

Education

Bachelor's degree, including 15 semester hours of Social Sciences or related area
One years experience in a counseling capacity or related field; Job Corps experience preferred
Valid State driver's license in the state of employment with acceptable driving record preferred
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check
Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy
