Job summary

Berkeley Lab is seeking a Career Pathways Program Manager to lead the development and stewardship of our S&E career framework. You will coordinate communications, materials, and events that support career advancement, with collaborations across HR, divisions, and leadership.

You will manage fellowship and early-career programs, deliver engaging resources, and drive metrics to improve outcomes for researchers and staff. This hybrid role supports on-site and remote work with a national network.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, STEM, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience administering academic personnel, faculty affairs, career development, workforce development, or similar programs.
  • Experience coordinating complex programs with multiple stakeholders and policies.
  • Strong ability to build cross-functional relationships and guide leadership.
  • Proven track record planning workshops, conferences, or institutional events in-person and online.
  • Ability to analyze program data, report outcomes, and leverage technology to streamline processes while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Berkeley Lab's Scientist & Engineering career framework, updating materials and coordinating change management.
  • Develop and deliver communications, guidance documents, training materials, and web content to support career advancement and CPO initiatives.
  • Lead planning, coordination, and execution of CPO programs and events (e.g., Leadership Skills Course, Postdoc Career Symposium, SLAM, mid-career initiatives).
  • Manage lifecycle processes for postdoctoral fellowships, early-career awards, and recognition programs, including timelines and materials.
  • Partner with HR, divisions, and stakeholders to implement career policies and foster alumni/employer networking.
  • Collect, analyze, and report program metrics to drive data-informed decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the CPO on committees, working groups, and professional association events.
