Job summary

Trinity TankCar, Inc. in Longview, Texas is seeking a skilled Career Painter to prepare, coat and finish metal surfaces, using conventional or airless spray equipment to apply industrial paint finishes.

You will mix and apply alkyds, epoxies and other coatings, adjust nozzles, monitor viscosity, clean tools, and help maintain drying ovens, all while following safety rules and contributing to efficient production.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, coat, and finish metal surfaces.
• Operate conventional/airless spray equipment to apply finishes.
• Mix and apply alkyds, epoxies, gel coats, powder coats, urethane, zinc epoxies, and water borne paint systems.
• Adjust spray gun nozzles for proper dispersion and monitor paint viscosity.
• Clean paint lines and equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Regulate temperature and air flow in drying ovens.
• Follow all safety rules; may participate in safety initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Trinity TankCar, Inc. is looking for a Career Painter in our Longview, TX location!

Our products are an integral part of the supply chain that helps fuel our lives and our economy. Over the last 85 years, Trinity Industries has grown to over 6,000 employees strong with the common purpose of Delivering Goods, For the Good of All.

As a Painter at Trinity, you’ll prepare, coat, and finish metal and/or other surfaces. You’ll operate conventional/airless spray equipment to apply industrial paint finishes on metal and/or other types of surfaces. You’ll also mix and apply alkyds, epoxies, gel coats, powder coats, urethane, zinc epoxies, and water borne paint systems according to a prescribed formula.

The Painter adjusts nozzles on spray guns to obtain the proper dispersion of spray and monitors the flow and viscosity of the paint for solution. The Painter utilizes mill gauge and monitors the pressure amount properly, and cleans paint lines, paint guns, and performs other cleaning preventive maintenance to ensure painting apparatus remains in working order. The Painter also regulates temperature/air circulation in drying ovens.

Expertly apply exterior coatings by spray and/or hand-held methods

Expertly seal and/or bake final interior and exterior coatings.

Expertly apply interior primer coats

Prepare painting area.

Apply primer or first exterior coat.

Prepare and/or mix paint.

Follow all safety rules and practices.

May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned
