Job summary

The University of Michigan-Dearborn CECS Career Success Hub seeks two current CECS graduate students to support a short-term career outcomes research and data project. Research Assistants will research employment and graduate education outcomes for non-respondents, document findings, and help prepare the annual CECS outcomes dataset.

Responsibilities include targeted LinkedIn research, documenting details, evaluating source credibility, and updating the outcomes dataset within a structured QA

Qualifications

• Must be a current CECS graduate student at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
• Ability to conduct online research and evaluate credibility of sources.
• Organize information and follow established data entry procedures.
• Work independently, manage time effectively, meet deadlines.
• Handle potentially sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
• Experience with research, data collection, or information management is a plus.
• Familiarity with LinkedIn and public information sources is desirable.
• Experience with Excel or Google Sheets and data cleaning or analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct targeted research using LinkedIn and public sources to identify employment or education outcomes for non-respondents.
• Document findings with employer/educational institution, location, source, date reviewed, and confidence level.
• Evaluate credibility and distinguish confirmed vs uncertain findings.
• Conduct outreach to request replies when additional confirmation is needed.
• Update the outcomes dataset with verified information following QA procedures.
• Flag unusual or unclear cases for review by the CECS Career Success Hub.
• Assist with basic data cleaning, analysis, and preparation of the annual dataset.
