Job summary

The City of Coon Rapids is seeking Career Firefighters to join a dedicated team that protects life and property. The role includes fire suppression, rescue operations, basic life support, building inspections, and public safety education in a dynamic, community-focused department.

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED, Firefighter II and EMT (NREMT) certifications, and a valid MN driver’s license.

Qualifications

Must have high school diploma or GED.
Firefighter II certification required.
EMT certification must be current.
Minnesota driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

Responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls to extinguish or control fires.
Conducts fire prevention inspections and pre-fire planning of buildings.
Maintains fire apparatus and equipment
Attends regular and assigned training to maintain and upgrade firefighter skills.
Performs as driver/operator of fire apparatus.
Performs general maintenance work pertaining to upkeep of Fire Department apparatus, equipment and buildings.
Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
