Job summary

The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Career Development Specialist to support refugee employment services under the RES program. The role focuses on coaching, training connections, and helping participants advance through education and certification opportunities.

You will work in a hybrid setting, engaging with employers, WorkSource partners, and educational institutions to build career pathways for clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 1-2 years of experience in career coaching, employment services or workforce development.
• Experience working with immigrants or internationally trained professionals preferred.
• Strong understanding of local job market trends, hiring processes, and credential recognition pathways.

Responsibilities

• Complete initial intake to determine participant’s eligibility and create an Individual Employment Plan.
• Provide career coaching including basic skills development.
• Facilitate an ongoing career/employment plan and assist with vocational training and scholarships.
• Educate participants on career training and certification options.
• Coordinate referrals and access to WorkSource centers and training providers.
• Maintain documentation and participant outcomes, case notes, and reporting.
• Outreach to eligible clients via calls, emails, and community visits to promote services.
