Job summary

BRC is seeking a dedicated career counselor to provide employment development and counseling services to job seekers across multiple program locations in New York. The role focuses on assessing careers, expanding opportunities, and helping clients plan sustainable pathways to employment.

CPR readiness and collaboration with community partners are essential components of the position. Ideal candidates hold a BA and have experience in counseling, with preference for those familiar with addiction,

Qualifications

• BA strongly preferred; experience in career counseling, employment development and/or career counseling, vocational training, workshop development and facilitation.
• Ideal candidate will have a background in addiction, mental illness and working with the homeless.
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills; computer proficiency required.
• CPR certification or willingness to take CPR training.

Responsibilities

• Provide career assessment and employment development services to job seekers.
• Expand employment opportunities for job seekers and assist in developing a career path and employment preservation strategy.
• Share and collect participant data regarding client employment retention for reporting, assessment and evaluation.
• Facilitate employment-related workshops and counsel participants on retention strategies.
• Collaborate with service providers, employers, and educational/vocational programs to support clients.
• Work at multiple program locations; provide emergency first aid/CPR when needed.
