Job summary

Full Sail University seeks a Career Advisor to guide students and graduates in pursuing opportunities within entertainment, media, or technology. You will conduct advisory interviews, teach career search practices, and coordinate resumes to connect with employer leads.

You will document communications, assist in accreditation data, and participate in industry outreach events to support graduates across multiple programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree preferred. Prior experience in the computer science, IT and/or technology industries is required.
  • Some human resource experience is helpful.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team are required.

Responsibilities

  • Advise students/graduates in policies and procedures of the Career Development Department.
  • Meet with students/graduates in Career Advisory Interviews.
  • Educate and assist candidate graduates with career search practices (resume review, cover letters, interviewing skills).
  • Coordinate graduate resumes to employer leads.
  • Document conversations via various channels and communicate assignments to the assistant.
  • Provide accurate statistical information for yearly accreditation.

Job description

Advises students/graduates and partners with them in preparing for pursuit of the entertainment, media, or technology industry for which they have trained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reports directly to the Team Manager.
  • Advises students/graduates in policies and procedures of the Career Development Department.
  • Meets with students/graduates in Career Advisory Interviews.
  • Educates and assists candidate graduates with career search practices, including presentation skills, conducting research, resume review, cover letter writing, developing telephone and interviewing skills, industry etiquette and responsibilities.
  • Coordinates graduate resumes to appropriate employer leads.
  • Documents all conversations (personal, telephone, email).
  • Communicates and delegates assignments to the assistant.
  • Provides accurate statistical information for the yearly accreditation.
  • Organizes and develops resources for industry research.
  • Develops outreach practices to assist graduate networking.
  • May attend industry-related events and presentations.
  • Duties and assignments as assigned by Team Lead and Associate Director.

  • No Competencies: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of the tech, IT, computer science, and VR industry. Ability to work well in a team. Ability to professionally and patiently navigate through a collective decision-making process that may include several layers of permission and supervisors. Ability to meet deadlines. Move with compassion and respect, while maintaining a positive attitude at all times. Working knowledge of computers and Internet researching. Self-motivated.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor degree preferred. Prior experience in the computer science, IT and/or technology industries is required. Some human resource experience is helpful.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • n/a Computer/Equipment Skills: Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs, Drop Box, and Discord. Mac OS proficiency preferred.
Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:
  • Employee must work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Physical requirements include the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
