Job summary

Equus Workforce Solutions in Wyoming seeks a Counselor to manage a caseload of Job Corps participants, delivering career, academic, social, and personal development counseling. The role partners with multiple departments to meet student needs and supports transitions to education or training pathways.

The counselor assesses progress, guides goal setting, and coordinates with community services to ensure successful outcomes for diverse youth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, including 15 semester hours in social services-related instruction.
• One year experience in counseling or related field.
• Experience working with a diverse population of youth.
• A valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of program participants and provide career/academic, social, and personal/career development counseling.
• Actively collaborate with all other departments to meet the needs of each student.
• Assess and evaluate students on formal and informal levels.
• Aid students in continuing education or additional training.
• Help students connect with community services for a successful transition from Job Corps.
• Document minimum counseling sessions for minors and adults; adjust frequency as needed.
• Perform ESP and MYPACE reviews as required by the PRH.
• Enter appropriate information in CIS and retrieve/verify leaves and passes per mandates.
• Assist students in setting short and long-term goals and addressing career challenges.
• Submit written student reports/evaluations to outside agencies or on request.
• Co-facilitate small group sessions on employability skills and career standards.
• Track projection data and update weekly to monitor progress.
• Participate in student orientation and develop employability plans.
