Job summary

Goodwill of Western New York is seeking a Career Coach/Work Readiness Trainer to support participants in the Goodskills Career Builder program. This role combines classroom instruction, individual career coaching, and long-term employment support.

You will interview, assess, enroll participants, facilitate workshops, and provide feedback on performance and progress. You’ll build partnerships, maintain records, and assist graduates with ongoing job placement and retention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience working with unemployed or underemployed individuals.
• Coaching, training, supervisory, or classroom management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview, assess, and enroll eligible program participants.

• Coach participants on career goals, résumés, applications, and interviewing.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback on attendance, work habits, professional behavior, and interpersonal skills.
• Help participants identify and address barriers to employment.
• Connect participants with employment opportunities, training providers, and community resources.
• Support participants during experiential learning and worksite placements.
• Maintain accurate participant records and track program outcomes.
• Provide employment and retention support for up to three years after graduation.
• Build relationships with community organizations and prospective participants.
• Transport participants to program-related locations using an agency vehicle.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant experience preferred.

• Coaching, training, supervisory, or classroom management experience preferred.
• Ability to provide candid feedback and manage challenging conversations.
• Strong communication, organization, time-management, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with case management or customer relationship management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License.

Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends.

Compensation

$45,000 to $50,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. We regularly review our pay and benefits to stay competitive.
