Job summary

City of Virginia Beach is hiring an Employment Specialist to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve independence through competitive, integrated employment.

You will assess strengths, build ISPs, and provide ongoing coaching at job sites. The role requires coordinating with local employers, families, and support teams to ensure long-term career success and compliance with state and CARF standards.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Experience writing reports and documentation, preferably in electronic records.
• Experience coordinating services with other agencies and supports.

Responsibilities

• Assess individual strengths and career interests to build and execute Person-Centered ISPs.
• Build relationships with local businesses to secure competitive employment opportunities.
• Provide one-on-one training at job sites to develop workplace skills and task performance.
• Serve as a bridge between clients and supervisors, advocating for fair treatment and growth.
• Supervise group-supported employment sites and ensure compliance and productivity.
