Job summary

S:US located at Echo Place Bronx, NY 10457 seeks a Vocational Specialist to assess clients, identify barriers to employment, and develop vocational plans. The role will coordinate with case management and provide career coaching, resume support, and job placement services.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree with two years of applicable experience or six years in the field; knowledge of homelessness, ESL, and related challenges; and the ability to document and track progress within client

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and two years of applicable experience or a minimum of six years of applicable experience.
• Knowledge of the complex interaction of homelessness, substance use disorder, mental health and domestic violence with sensitivity to cultural and gender-specific issues.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments interviews to elicit information relative to client’s skills, education, abilities and interest.
• Identify barriers to employment and make referrals with Case Manager.
• Assist clients in developing vocational education service plans and monitor implementation.
• Document counseling, assessments, testing and service plans in clients’ folders.
• Coordinate EM Path economic mobility program and maintain employment/vocational data.
• Provide career coaching, resume/cover letter prep, job search, and applications.
• Design and facilitate adult life skills workshops (budgeting, tenant behavior, home maintenance).
• Develop direct job placement services through program job bank.
• Maintain tracking forms for job/skills training placements and reports.
• Conduct vocational workshops and attend required trainings/meetings.
