Job summary

Children's Rescue Fund in the Bronx, NY seeks an Employment Specialist (Hope House) to help clients obtain and maintain employment. The person will also guide training and education opportunities aligned with clients’ professional goals.

The role requires counseling, resume development, and collaboration with employers; travel and flexible hours including evenings/weekends are expected in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in sociology, psychology, career services, counseling, criminal justice or human services preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience in career coaching, workforce development or job placement.
• Experience with individuals affected by mental illness, substance abuse, or homelessness is required.
• Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends required.
• Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe.

Responsibilities

• Meet clients to assess employment needs and establish a viable job search plan.
• Assist clients with resume development and job search activities.
• Assist clients in exploring training, certification, and education opportunities.
• Conduct workshops on resume writing, interviewing, online applications, and time management.
• Develop partnerships with employers, trade schools, government agencies, and others.
• Coordinate client participation in external job fairs and events.
• Document interactions and employment activities in electronic case notes.
• Track workshop attendance, referrals, and program outcomes.
• Prepare reports to support departmental activities and client achievements.
• Participate in team meetings and case conferences; perform other duties as assigned.
