Job summary

Children’s Rescue Fund in Bronx, NY is seeking an Employment Specialist (Hope House) to assist clients in obtaining and maintaining employment and to engage them in training opportunities supporting career goals.

The role requires a BA/BS preferred in related fields, 2+ years of experience in career coaching or job placement, and a willingness to work evenings and weekends. Travel in NYC area and strong MS Office skills are expected.

Qualifications

• BA/BS preferred in Sociology, Psychology, Career Services, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or Human Services
• 2+ years of experience in career coaching, workforce development or job placement
• Experience working with individuals affected by mental illness, substance abuse, or homelessness
• Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
• Ability to build relationships with employers, government agencies and external organizations
• Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to assess employment needs and set a realistic job search plan
• Assist clients with resume development and job search activities
• Help clients explore training, certification and education opportunities
• Conduct workshops on resume writing, interview skills and online applications
• Develop and maintain employer partnerships and coordinate job fairs
• Escort clients to external job fairs and events
• Schedule client computer space and monitor usage
• Document client interactions and employment activities in case notes
• Track workshop attendance and referrals
• Prepare reports to support department activities
• Participate in team meetings to discuss client progress
• Perform other duties as assigned
