Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Career Associate to join the Asset Management Practice Group in San Francisco. This full-time role focuses on asset management, private equity, investment funds, and related transactional and governance matters. The position involves supporting fund formation, co-investments, management company matters, and related fund operations. The ideal candidate will work independently, build trusted client relationships, and possess deep subject matter knowledge of sophisticated investment platforms. A hybrid work arrangement is offered, requiring periodic in-office or client-facing presence.

Duties

Provide day-to-day legal support for fund operations, including confidentiality and intercompany agreements. Draft, review, and negotiate transfer agreements and related documentation for fund interests. Support management company and general partner entity matters, including organizational documents and award agreements. Coordinate with legal, finance, tax, compliance, management, and investor relations teams. Manage a steady pipeline of recurring matters and maintain organized records and templates. Identify opportunities to improve forms and streamline workflows. Apply sound legal judgment and strong drafting skills in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Admission in good standing to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal department. Strong drafting, legal analysis, organizational, and project management skills. Knowledge of fund-related agreements and governance matters. Ability to build trusted relationships with clients and cross-functional teams. Experience with document templates, playbooks, and knowledge management resources. Proficiency in using artificial intelligence technologies responsibly and ethically.

Education
