Career Team is hiring a Career Advisor to provide career counseling, intensive case management, and follow-up services for participants in workforce programs. The hybrid role requires onsite and remote work, reporting to the Program Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communication and knowledge about community resources.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with good decision making.
  • Computer literate with Word/Excel and ability to learn databases.
  • Culturally sensitive with diverse customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information and case management services to community members.
  • Complete intake and eligibility determinations for workforce programs.
  • Assess employment, abilities, and training needs through interviewing and testing.
  • Liaise between programs and community partners.
  • Enter data into WIT and process clients in systems.
  • Guide jobseekers through individual employment plans.
  • Stay updated on labor market trends and best practices.
  • Counsel clients on job opportunities and training.
  • Refer individuals to services and follow up.
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, and job clubs.
  • Maintain accurate case files and compliance.
  • Meet program benchmarks and participate in staff events.
  • Complete required reports in data systems.
  • Approach tasks with a proactive mindset.
  • Other duties as needed.

Career Advisor

Reports To: Program Manager
Location: Borderplex Region
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non Exempt Employee

Career Team is looking to hire a Career Advisor who will provide career counseling, intensive case management, and follow‑up services to participants eligible for workforce programs. The Career Advisor guides jobseekers toward employment and training goals, removes barriers to success, and ensures accurate and compliant case management. Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Manager.

These positions are hybrid and require working onsite as well as remotely.

Responsibilities
  • Provide information and case management services to community members interested in workforce services
  • Complete intake and eligibility determination for assigned workforce programs
  • Assess jobseekers’ employment, abilities, and training needs through interviewing, testing, and other methods
  • Serve as a liaison between workforce development programs and community partners and resources
  • Enter data into WIT and process clients through any participant information system as required
  • Guide jobseekers through the preparation of individual employment plans (IEP) based on their specific occupational goals
  • Stay on top of labor market trends and best practices in career and training paths
  • Counsel clients on available job opportunities, training programs, and other services
  • Refer individuals to appropriate services, training programs, or job opportunities and follow up on those activities
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs, and other group presentations for clients
  • Assist participants in removing barriers to employment and training
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations related to eligibility documentation
  • Maintain accurate individual case files in WIT for each registered customer, ensuring each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements
  • Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks and participate in all staff‑related events as required, including training, staff meetings, and individual supervision
  • Complete all required reports within the data management system
  • Approach each day and task with a “ZAG” mindset
  • Other duties and projects as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge about community resources
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to make well‑thought‑out decisions
  • Computer literate with MS Word and Excel skills at minimum, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base and be culturally sensitive
  • Ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them toward achieving goals
  • Ability to meet and exceed set goals and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal, time‑management, customer service, organizational, and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Knowledgeable about the WIOA program and other workforce program requirements
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient in maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Exceptional time‑management skills to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • A valid driver’s license
Additional Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong multitasking abilities and a proactive approach to tasks
  • Experience and knowledge of WIOA, TANF, SNAP, and other workforce development programs
  • Training in Trauma‑Informed Care, evidence‑based practice, and/or whole‑family services

Salary: $44,000 - $48,000/yr

Travel: As Needed
