Job summary

SOL Mental Health in Lakewood, CO seeks a full-time Medical Assistant to support patient intake, scheduling, and clinical workflows. You will coordinate with clinicians and pharmacies, manage the EHR, and ensure accurate billing documentation while upholding HIPAA compliance.

Ideal candidates have MA experience, EMR proficiency (Athena preferred), and strong organizational and communication skills to serve diverse patients effectively.

Qualifications

• Clinical exposure or Medical Assistant experience including reading medical records and supporting workflows.
• Experience coordinating with pharmacies and handling prior authorizations when needed.
• Proactive, organized and able to work with diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, answer calls/emails, and manage daily scheduling needs and logistics.
• Complete patient intake and check-in, verify forms, insurance and balances.
• Manage schedules for patients and clinicians; update the EHR accurately.
• Support clinical teams by triaging concerns and coordinating services.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and referral partners to support the patient journey.
• Ensure accurate charge capture and timely billing documentation.
• Maintain HIPAA, CMS, OSHA compliance and high levels of patient service.
• Represent SOL Mental Health professionally and contribute to team culture.
• Meet productivity goals and perform additional duties as assigned.

• Provide a warm, professional experience for all patients by greeting visitors, answering phones, and managing daily scheduling needs across calls, emails, and logistics.
• Complete patient intake and check‑in processes, ensuring all forms, insurance verifications, copays, and balances are collected and documented accurately.
• Manage schedules for patients and clinicians, including adjustments, follow‑ups, discharge workflows, reactivation, and end‑of‑day processes, while maintaining accurate information in the EHR.
• Support clinical teams by triaging patient concerns, escalating issues appropriately, and coordinating necessary services.
• Communicate clearly and promptly with patients, families, referral partners, and vendors to support the full patient journey and enhance engagement.
• Ensure accurate charge capture, billing‑related documentation, and timely submission of required data.
• Maintain compliance with all policies and regulatory standards (HIPAA, CMS, OSHA, etc.) and uphold a high standard of customer service.
• Represent Sol Mental Health with professionalism and contribute positively to team culture by demonstrating empathy, collaboration, and reliability.
• Meet productivity goals and perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements & Skills

• Clinical exposure or Medical Assistant experience including reading medical records, supporting medication workflows, coordinating with pharmacies, and assisting with prior authorizations.
• MA Certification is a plus
• Able to effectively manage difficult situations and de-escalate issues that arise.
• Ability to interact and work professionally and effectively with a diverse population.
• Highly organized and able to juggle many tasks at once.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office products and ability to learn clinic operations technology systems.
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems, specifically Athena, preferred.
• Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
• Strong work ethic, passionate and enthusiastic personality with a high degree of integrity, humility, and a positive attitude

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able effectively communicate over the phone, computer, and face to face.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• This is a Full Time, in-person role based out of our Lakewood location.

Compensation | The estimated hourly compensation for this role is $24.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience. This role is also eligible for a monthly bonus based upon metrics set for the role.
