Job summary

Maplewood Senior Living is seeking a Resident Care Partner (CNA/HHA) in Washington, DC. The role provides compassionate care per each resident’s ISP, within the CAN/HHA training scope, and supports daily living activities, medication assistance, and family communication.

The position requires a DC-registered CNA/HHA, a high school diploma, fluency in English, and at least one year of senior-care experience.

Qualifications

  • Must complete a Certified Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aide program and be registered in DC.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must speak and read English fluently.
  • Minimum one year experience with seniors in residential/home settings.
  • Dementia experience preferred.
  • Free of communicable diseases.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service to residents, families, and visitors.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Care Team to ensure high-quality care.
  • Assist with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, mobility.
  • Assist with continence management.
  • Assist with instrumental activities of daily living: meals, housekeeping, laundry, phone use, bed making.
  • Support resident technology and medical equipment as needed.
  • Assist with self-administration of medications.
  • May accompany residents to appointments.
  • Encourage participation in social and recreational activities.
  • Participate in life enrichment and lifestyle programs.
  • Document care logs, incident reports, weight logs, and medication receipts accurately.
  • Maintain resident records per policy and follow safety procedures.

Position Summary:

The Resident Care Partner is a key member of the Resident Care Team who nurtures and supports residents by providing care and service as outlined on each resident’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP) within the scope of the CAN and HHA training.

Accountabilities:

The Resident Care Partner is accountable for upholding Inspīr standards and values, and for providing safe, effective and compassionate care, assistance and service to residents.

Essential Functions:
  • Provides outstanding customer service to all residents, family members, responsible persons, and visitors of residents in the community
  • Collaborates with other members of the Resident Care Team to ensure excellence in resident care and service delivery
  • Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing/showering, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting, hygiene and mobility
  • Assists with continence management
  • Assists residents with instrumental activities of daily living, including meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, telephone use and bed making
  • Assists with resident technology, medical equipment, assistive devices, and supplies as needed
  • Assists residents with self-administration of medication
  • May accompany residents to hospitals, medical appointments and other destinations when necessary
  • Encourages residents to participate in social and recreational activities as indicated or needed
  • Assists with and participate in resident experience, life enrichment and lifestyle programs
  • Maintains an awareness of each resident’s general state of physical and mental health and reports any changes immediately to the Nursing Supervisor on duty and/or General Manager
  • Accurately and timely completes all records, including but not limited to care logs, incident reports, monthly weight documentation and medication receipt logs
  • Maintains resident records according to policy
  • Follows established protocols and reporting requirements for accidents and incidents
  • Assists residents in keeping apartments/units clean, neat and orderly
  • Answers calls for assistance from residents and attends to resident needs promptly
  • Assists with resident meal selection, service and feeding as assigned
  • Participates in on-going in-service and training programs
  • Follows emergency procedures
  • Understands and fully complies with Inspīr safety practices and procedures
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification:
  • Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program or Home Health Aide Program and registered in the District of Columbia
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must speak and read English fluently
  • Minimum one-year experience working with a senior population in residential or home setting
  • Experience working with people with dementia preferred
  • Free of communicable diseases
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification
