Job summary

Compass Senior Living in Portland, OR is seeking compassionate Care Partners to support elders with daily living, health monitoring, and companionship in a vibrant community. A shift differential is offered and a dedicated care team creates a warm, engaging environment for residents.

You’ll work as part of a team to provide personal care, assist with meals, and lead residents in social activities. This role includes benefits for full-time staff and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Good verbal communication; read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers who speak English.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to elders (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility).
• Monitor health and document changes to Wellness Team.
• Offer emotional support and companionship to residents.
• Assist with meals and feeding as needed.
• Engage residents in social and recreational activities.
• Communicate with residents, families, and staff.
• Assist with light housekeeping and maintain cleanliness.

What You’ll Do

As a Care Partner, you can expect a range of responsibilities and tasks. Here are some general expectations:

• You will provide personal care: assist elders with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility, possibly with walkers and wheelchairs.


• You will provide health monitoring and documentation: observe, document, and report changes in the elder’s health or behavior to the Wellness Team.


• You will give emotional support: may support elders dealing with loneliness, anxiety, or other emotional challenges. Engaging in conversation, active listening, and offering companionship is part of your role.


• You will assist with Meals: help elders with meals and possibly feed elders who require additional support.


• You will engage in social and recreational activities: supporting elders in life-enriching activities for their well-being.


• You will connect: Communicate with elders, their families, other team members, and guests.


• You will keep things clean: may involve light housekeeping, such as tidying up and ensuring general cleanliness.

What You’ll Bring

• You will bring a willingness to learn and work within a team environment.


• You will bring good verbal communication and the ability to read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers who only speak English.


• You will bring licensing documentation (if required by your state) and be able to pass a criminal background check.


• You will bring the ability to perform job responsibilities with or without accommodation.
