Job summary

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is seeking a dedicated individual to coordinate ongoing facility security and supervise clients in daily routines and chores. Responsibilities

  • Complete hourly rounds of the facility, document facility conditions and census.
  • Review and verify census at end of tour, relay to funding sources daily.
  • Monitor sign in/out for all clients and manage related logs.
  • Initiate emergency follow-up when clients are late or absent without authorization.
  • Orientation for new clients covering rules, intake, fire safety and procedures.
  • Coordinate meal distribution and address meal-related issues with supervisor.
  • Inventory client personal property at entry and exit from the program.
  • Monitor medication and document in the Medication Log.
  • Schedule and log medical appointments and notify clients of dates.
  • Ensure completion of client chores and maintain cleaning supplies.
  • Conduct facility inspections and contraband searches per policies.
  • Perform random client or personal property searches as required.
  • Ensure visitors sign in/out and log visit purpose.
  • Log calls and respond to inquiries per operational policy.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills and document results.
  • Perform regular fire/safety checks and generate work orders for repairs.
  • Make daily log entries with date/time and signature.
  • Transport or escort clients as directed.
  • Document disciplinary incidents and submit forms within required timeframe.
  • File records as directed and fulfill core curriculum training obligations.
  • Interact professionally with clients, staff and community members.
  • Maintain client and staff confidentiality per policies.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences and training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for the coordination of on-going security of the facility, including accountability for the client population, supervision and support of all clients in their daily routine and chore assignments, and orientation of new clients. Monitor client curfews and/or furlough, answer and log all phone calls and file all necessary paperwork and documentation.

Scope of Duties:
  1. Complete hourly rounds of the facility, document facility conditions, and complete head count. Conduct shift change at the end of each shift so arriving shift is aware of census, medication count, keys, etc.
  2. Review and verify the facility census at beginning and completion of each tour of duty. Relay census to funding source by mandated times each day.
  3. Monitor the sign in and sign out procedure for all clients.
  4. Initiate emergency follow-up procedure when clients are late in returning to the facility or are absent without authorization.
  5. Conduct orientation of all new clients to the facility. The Orientation shall include a review of rules and regulations, a general intake, and a review of fire safety and emergency procedures.
  6. Coordinate meal distribution to clients and work with supervisor in handling any problems with meals and meal distribution.
  7. Conduct inventory of client personal property upon entering and termination from the program.
  8. Monitor medication to clients and document in the Medication Log.
  9. Schedule and document medical appointments for clients as needed with institution or providers; make the appropriate log entry of assigned clients and notify clients of their respective appointment dates and times.
  10. Ensure and document the completion of all assigned client chores. Ensure cleaning supplies are available.
  11. Conduct inspections and contraband searches of the entire facility in compliance with operational policies and procedures.
  12. Conduct random searches of clients and/or personal property as clients enter or leave the facility in compliance with Operational Policies and Procedures.
  13. Ensure all visitors sign in and sign out of the Visitor's Log. Include the purpose of the visit.
  14. Log phone calls and respond to inquiries in an appropriate manner, and in compliance with Operational policy and procedures.
  15. Conduct monthly fire drills as assigned and complete documentation.
  16. Conduct regular fire/safety checks of the facility; monitor all safety and emergency equipment; generate work orders to Central Maintenance for facility repairs.
  17. Make appropriate entries in daily log: Entries shall convey information concerning clients, building conditions, and/or other significant information. Each entry shall include the date and the time of entry and be signed by the writer.
  18. Transport and/or escort clients as directed.
  19. Document all disciplinary or special incidents involving clients and submit all appropriate forms to supervisor within required timeframe.
  20. File as directed.
  21. Fulfill obligation of training agreements entered for core curriculum programs.
  22. Interact verbally and nonverbally with all clients, staff and community members professionally with respect and courtesy.
  23. Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with Operational policies and procedures.
  24. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, training sessions and meetings.
  25. Other duties as assigned.

  1. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk, hear, and smell.
  2. Regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs.
  3. Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.

  5. Ability to identify and/or distinguish colors.
  6. Ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while remain fixed on a given point.
  7. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals (e.g. cleaning agents).
