Judge Healthcare is seeking a Behavioral Health Care Manager for a remote position with one of our biggest clients! Must be a California resident and hold valid California licensure

Employment Type: Contract (July 7, 2025 – December 31, 2025) with possible extensions!

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday

Start Time: 8:00 AM or 8:30 AM End Time: 4:40 PM or 5:00 PM

Compensation: $35-$37/hr

About The Role

The Behavioral Health Care Manager plays a critical role in monitoring inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment services to ensure medical necessity and effectiveness. This role includes crisis intervention, concurrent reviews, discharge planning, and working with providers to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. The ideal candidate is experienced in behavioral health, possesses strong analytical and communication skills, and is dedicated to improving care access and patient advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct telephonic triage, crisis intervention, and emergency authorizations.
• Perform concurrent reviews for various levels of care, ensuring treatment appropriateness and quality standards.
• Collaborate with providers and facilities to develop and implement discharge plans.
• Educate patients and providers on mental health and substance abuse benefits, treatment resources, and managed care policies.
• Consult with Physician Advisors on clinical reviews and authorization decisions.
• Engage in quality improvement activities, including data analysis and tracking.
• Advocate for patients by ensuring treatment needs are met and working with community agencies as necessary.
• Identify and recruit quality providers for network development when needed.
  
  

Qualifications

Education

• Associate degree in Nursing OR
• Bachelor's degree in Social Work OR
• Master's degree in Social Work
  
  

Licensure & Certifications (One Or More Required)

• CEAP (Certified Employee Assistance Professional)
• LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
• LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)
• LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker)
• LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
• RN (Registered Nurse) CA license
  
  

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years post-degree experience in healthcare, behavioral health, psychiatric care, or substance abuse treatment .
• Strong knowledge of utilization management procedures , mental health resources, and DSM-V (or latest edition).
• Proven ability to analyze treatment needs, recommend alternative care solutions, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings .
