Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a part-time Patient Support Specialist to deliver courteous service to patients, physicians and the care team, supporting patient care coordination and scheduling. The role requires solid computer skills and basic medical terminology.

Under the direction of an RN or Care Manager, you will document regulatory letters, arrange transportation and follow-up appointments, and assist with insurance authorizations for post-acute care needs while ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Education: High School Grad or Equiv (Required).
• 1+ office experience preferred.
• Data entry experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Promotes excellent customer services with patients, physicians, care managers, and the healthcare team.
• Collaborates with Care Managers for patient care coordination needs.
• Coordinates patient care and services under RN or SW Care Manager direction and with patient/family.
• Obtains and documents delivery of regulatory letters to patients or representatives.

Job Description:

Promotes excellent customer services through interactions with patients, physicians, care managers, and the healthcare team. Collaborates with the Care Managers for patient care coordination needs. Coordinates patient care and services arrangements under the direction of a RN or SW Care Manager and in collaboration with the patient/family. Provides and documents the delivery of regulatory letters to patients or their representatives in accordance with Federal and State regulations. Arranges patient transportation and follow up appointments as requested. Obtains insurance authorization for patient post-acute care needs as directed by the Care Manager. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Intermediate to advanced computer skills required to include, but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Medical terminology helpful.
• Good public relations/clerical and computer skills.

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ office experience [Preferred]
• 1+ office experience, preferably in a medical setting [Preferred]
• Previous data entry experience [Preferred]
