Job summary

Almond Vista Healthcare Center is seeking a dependable cook to prepare nutritious, appealing meals for residents in a skilled nursing setting. You will follow menus and recipes set by the Dietitian, ensuring correct temperatures and serving times while maintaining quality and safety.

This role requires a high school diploma (preferred), ServSafe certification (preferred), and at least one year of cooking experience in a healthcare kitchen or commercial setting.

Responsibilities

• Follow recipes and prepares foods that correspond to menu cycles and recipes prepared by Dietitian.
• Cook or prepare palatable, attractive, nutritionally adequate meals in institutional quantities according to census and diet type, served at proper temperatures and times.
• Supervise kitchen staff who assist with food preparation, assembling trays, cleaning and storage of supplies and equipment.
• Use food preparation equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions; follow proper cleaning techniques.
• Participate in inventory ordering and receiving of stock/supplies.
• Inspect trays following meal service to monitor and record resident acceptance of menu items.
• Communicate with Dietary Services Supervisor throughout shift as needed.
