Job summary

North Star Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator to manage diagnostic, specialty, and miscellaneous referral requests. Greet and attend to patients in person and over the phone, ensuring a positive patient experience.

Performs all aspects of patient registration, scheduling, document administration and reception while keeping to North Star’s customer service standards. Works in collaboration with team members to deliver high quality care and contribute to a positive work culture.

Qualifications

• Must have strong customer service and healthcare terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Process all diagnostic, specialty, and miscellaneous referral requests and ensure documentation is available to the receiver.
• Obtain authorization for referrals and schedule appointments as required.
• Ensure knowledge of insurance prior authorization and payer referral requirements.
• Coordinate with providers, patients, and payers in a team-based approach to complete referral requirements.
• Track referrals to confirm scheduling, attendance, and receipt of necessary information from specialists.
• Handle front-end administrative duties and patient communications, including calls, voicemails, and portal messages.
• Manage appointment functions, reminders, eligibility checks, and patient follow-ups.
• Adhere to policies and protect PHI in all activities.
• Maintain professional, courteous patient interactions and a positive work culture.
