Job summary

Simpson Meadows is seeking an Experienced Direct Care Worker to support residents in Downingtown, PA. The role covers ADLs, mobility, medication reminders, meals, and companionship in full-time or part-time shifts including evenings and weekends.

Requirements include HS Diploma, Temple University Direct Care Training, and Dementia Care Training within 30 days. CPR and First Aid certifications are required, with AED and Medication Administration certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience providing direct care to seniors or disabled people.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures to communicate with other healthcare providers when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Help residents with mobility and transferring using assistive devices.
• Provide medication reminders and assistance with administration.
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry tasks as needed.
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
• Monitor health and report changes to staff.
• Assist with recreational activities and outings.
• Document care provided in residents' records.
• Follow facility policies to ensure safety and well-being.
• Work shifts may include evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Complete Medication Administration Certification within 4 weeks.
• Utilize Relias training annually.

Job Responsibilities

• Assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Helping residents with mobility and transferring, including use of assistive devices such as walkers or wheelchairs.
• Providing medication reminders and assistance with medication administration.
• Assisting with meal preparation and feeding.
• Performing light housekeeping tasks such as tidying up a room, making beds, laundry, and emergent cleaning if necessary.
• Providing companionship and emotional support to residents.
• Monitoring residents' health and reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Assisting with recreational activities and outings.
• Documenting care provided and observations in residents' records.
• Following all facility policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
• Working full-time or part-time in shifts that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Completing Medication Administration Certification within the first 4 weeks of employment with Simpson.
• Utilizing Relias training online to continually update skills and training each calendar year as required by the regulations.

Qualifications

Education or Degree Required

• HS Diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED). If applicant attended secondary school outside the US, diploma must be translated to English if printed in native language.
• Complete Direct Care Worker Training from Temple University Online before orientation.
• Complete Dementia Care Training within 30 days of hire.
