Description:

SMMC, a division of Trinity Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Cardiovascular Tech to join our team. The candidate should be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively with supervising physicians, department staff, and other healthcare team members. Responsibilities include assisting physicians with basic to advanced interventional cardiovascular and radiologic procedures for adult patients, with a strong background in angiography, cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty, vascular stenting, and interventional radiology procedures for trauma patients. The role requires critical thinking, knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, and the ability to perform under pressure during high-acuity situations. The technician will operate and maintain fluoroscopy, ultrasound, intravascular ultrasound, intra-aortic balloon pump, and Impella equipment. The position involves primary and backup on-call responsibilities for cardiac and interventional radiology emergencies, including STEMI and trauma cases.

• Follow departmental protocols unless directed otherwise by the Radiologist.

• Obtain and document patient history and relevant information, ensuring proper patient identification per safety standards.

• Verify and adhere to physician’s orders.

• Produce high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring proper positioning, technique, and orientation.

• Respond effectively during emergency situations.

• Follow infection control standards specific to patient care.

• Communicate professionally with other departments.

• Understand and address safety, health, and moral needs of patients and colleagues.

• Plan care delivery based on patient injuries or limitations.

• Operate imaging equipment safely and correctly.

• Follow radiation safety procedures for self and others. Replenish supplies as needed.

• Ensure equipment is in proper working condition through warm-up procedures and report malfunctions.

• Perform procedures accurately in the operating room.

• Assist radiologists with fluoroscopic procedures and perform bedside radiographs.

• Administer contrast materials accurately.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
