Description:
SMMC, a division of Trinity Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Cardiovascular Tech to join our team. The ideal candidate will work both independently and collaboratively with supervising physicians, department staff, and the healthcare team to perform basic to advanced interventional cardiovascular and radiologic procedures for adult patients.

Responsibilities include a strong background in angiography, cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty, vascular stenting, and interventional radiology procedures for trauma patients. The candidate must possess excellent critical thinking skills, knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, and the ability to work effectively under pressure during high-acuity situations.

Responsibilities also include preparing, operating, and maintaining equipment such as fluoroscopy, ultrasound, intravascular ultrasound, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and Impella devices. The position requires primary and backup on-call duties for cardiac and interventional radiology emergencies, including STEMI and trauma cases.

Key duties include:
  • Following department protocols unless directed otherwise by the Radiologist
  • Obtaining and documenting patient history accurately
  • Verifying and following physician’s orders
  • Producing quality diagnostic images with proper technique and positioning
  • Responding effectively in emergencies
  • Adhering to infection control standards
  • Communicating professionally with other departments
  • Ensuring safety, health, and moral needs of patients and staff are met
  • Planning care based on patient injury or limitations
  • Operating imaging equipment safely and properly
  • Following radiation safety procedures
  • Maintaining equipment and reporting malfunctions
  • Assisting radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures
  • Performing bedside radiographs
  • Preparing and administering contrast materials accurately
  • Performing additional duties as assigned
