Description:
SMMC, a division of Trinity Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Cardiovascular Tech to join our team. The ideal candidate should be able to work autonomously and collaboratively with supervising physicians, the department, and other healthcare team members. Responsibilities include assisting physicians with basic to advanced interventional cardiovascular and radiologic procedures for adult patients, with a strong emphasis on angiography, cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty, cardiac/peripheral vascular stenting, and interventional radiology procedures for trauma patients.
Qualifications include strong critical thinking skills, extensive knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, and the ability to work well under pressure during high-acuity situations. The role involves preparing, operating, and maintaining fluoroscopy, ultrasound, intravascular ultrasound, intra-aortic balloon pump, and Impella equipment. The position also requires on-call responsibilities for cardiac and interventional radiology emergencies, including STEMI and trauma cases.
Key responsibilities include:
- Following department protocols for procedures, unless directed otherwise by radiologists.
- Obtaining and documenting patient history and information accurately.
- Verifying and following physicians' orders.
- Producing high-quality diagnostic images with proper positioning and technique.
- Responding effectively to emergencies.
- Adhering to infection control standards.
- Communicating professionally with other departments.
- Ensuring safety, health, and moral needs of patients and coworkers are met.
- Planning care delivery based on patient limitations.
- Operating imaging equipment safely and correctly.
- Understanding and applying radiation safety procedures.
- Maintaining supplies and ensuring equipment condition.
- Reporting equipment issues promptly.
- Performing procedures accurately in the operating room.
- Assisting radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures.
- Performing quality bedside radiographs.
- Preparing and assisting with contrast material administration.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
