Description:
SMMC, a division of Trinity Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Cardiovascular Tech to join our team. The role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with supervising physicians, the department, and other healthcare team members. The technician assists physicians in performing basic to advanced interventional cardiovascular and radiologic procedures for adult patients. A strong background in angiography, especially cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty, cardiac and peripheral vascular stenting, and interventional radiology procedures for trauma patients is essential. The candidate must possess critical thinking skills, knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, and the ability to work effectively under pressure during high-acuity situations. Responsibilities include preparing, operating, and maintaining fluoroscopy, ultrasound, intravascular ultrasound, intra-aortic balloon pump, and Impella equipment. The position involves primary and backup on-call duties for cardiac and interventional radiology emergencies, including STEMI and trauma cases.
A sign-on bonus of $10,000 is offered for a two-year work commitment.
- Follow department protocols for procedures unless directed otherwise by the Radiologist.
- Obtain and document patient history and relevant information accurately.
- Ensure proper patient identification according to the National Patient Safety Goals.
- Verify and adhere to the physician’s written orders.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring correct positioning, technique, and orientation.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care.
- Communicate professionally with other departments.
- Prioritize safety, health, and moral considerations for patients and colleagues.
- Plan patient care based on injury or physical limitations.
- Operate medical imaging equipment safely and correctly.
- Follow radiation safety procedures for self and others.
- Replenish and change supplies as needed.
- Ensure equipment is in good condition by performing warm-up procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions according to department standards.
- Perform procedures accurately in the operating room.
- Assist radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures.
- Perform quality bedside radiographs.
- Prepare and assist with contrast material administration accurately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
