Job summary

MedStar Health in Upper Marlboro, MD seeks a Cardiovascular Cath Lab professional to support a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include patient prep, IV starts, EKG monitoring, and assisting with invasive procedures such as diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, EP/ablation, and peripheral interventions.

Candidate should have RCIS or equivalent certification and 1–2 years of Cath Lab or Interventional Rad experience, with BLS/ACLS credentials.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree preferred or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• RCIS or equivalent certification required.
• 1–2 years in Cardiac Catheterization or Interventional Radiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Starts IVs, monitors EKG, and prepares patients.
• Assists with invasive procedures: Cardiac catheterization, ICD and Pacemaker, EP and ablation, peripheral, bronchoscopic and bone marrow harvest procedures.
• Performs quality control on X-ray equipment before procedures.
• Assists physician during procedures and manages post-procedure sheath removal with manual pressure.
• Records and interprets hemodynamic data using Mac Lab monitoring system.
• Prepares equipment and room for cases; cleans and restocks after procedures.
• Participates in orientation, training, and inventory management in the Cath Lab.

About this Job:

General Summary of PositionThe incumbent in this position will work in a multidisciplinary lab working with a variety of service lines. Procedures include: Diagnostic Cardiac catheterization ICD and Pacemaker procedures Electrophysiology and Ablation procedures Diagnostic and Interventional Peripheral procedures Interventional and Diagnostic Bronchoscopy procedures Bone Marrow Harvest procedures. The incumbent in this position will assist with all invasive procedures. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy policies procedures and standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Performs assorted patient care responsibilities for adults including starting IV's EKG monitoring cardiac outputs and prepping and draping patients.Assists with invasive procedures such as; Diagnostic Cardiac catheterization ICD and Pacemaker procedures Electrophysiology and Ablation procedures Diagnostic and Interventional Peripheral procedures Interventional and Diagnostic Bronchoscopy procedures Bone Marrow Harvest procedures.Performs quality control functions of the X-ray console/equipment before procedures.Assists physician during the procedure. Removes/ pulls arterial and venous sheaths from patient after procedure and apply appropriate manual pressure.Records and interprets hemodynamic data using Mac Lab monitoring system.Prepares all the equipment sets up field for all cases and cleans room for next procedure..Participates in the orientation training and in-services for cardiovascular technologists and other staff in the department.Assists with the inventory managing and stocking of supplies and equipment for the Cath Lab.Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.
