As a Cardiovascular Technician Apprentice, you will assist in cardiac catheterization to ultimately gain the skills necessary to become a fully certified Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT). A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am—5:30pm w/on-call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Under supervision of CV Tech, perform basic EKG interpretation, single and 12-lead ST segments analysis for ischemia/injury patterns and recognition of arrhythmias.
• Recognize and interpret EKG changes related to all electrophysiology procedures, such as mapping, ablating and implanting of cardiac resynchronization devices.
• Perform arterial and venous pressure monitoring, sampling and basic interpretation.
• Document procedure completely and accurately including medications and supplies.
• Perform patient observation.
• Under supervision of the CV Tech, assist team members in acute cardiac care, including resuscitation and related therapeutic effects.
• Under supervision of the CV Tech, utilize aseptic techniques throughout pre-, intra- and post-procedures.
• Set up scrub procedures in both Cath and EP lab.
• Prepare all instruments/equipment for decontamination and take them to the sterilization department.
• Assist in room cleaning after each case.
• Restock procedure room when cases are completed for the day.
  
  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Completion of an approved Cardiovascular Technician Training Program within one year of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association within six months of hire

• Six months of healthcare related work experience

Physical Requirements:

• Workload is heavy and requires constant lifting, moving of patients, equipment, instrument trays, and supplies.
• Able to lift items up to 50 pounds without assistance and greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
• Stooping, pushing and pulling required when moving patients or equipment into position for surgery.

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
