Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a student or trainee to support EP technology workflows in our cath lab. This PRN, hourly role supports diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures under supervision, with emphasis on patient care and teamwork.

The position requires enrollment in MUSC Health’s EP Technology Program or a related accredited program, with ACLS & BLS certification within three months and RCES certification within one year.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in MUSC Health’s EP Technology Program or an accredited EP CVT program and in last clinical rotations.
• ACLS & BLS certification obtained within three (3) months of hire and thereafter maintained.
• Must obtain RCES certification within one year of program completion date.

Responsibilities

• Provides health care services using cardiovascular and electrophysiology technology in diagnostic and interventional EP procedures under supervision.
• Performs limited radiographic procedures as authorized by state law for interpretation by licensed practitioners.
• Adheres to medical ethics, maintains patient safety, and collaborates with the team in a fast-paced lab environment.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements

For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. (Continuous) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes along with good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
