Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Cardiovascular Surgery Research program within the Heart Center. You will assist with animal surgeries for biomedical devices and manage related data under the PI's direction.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a basic science or related field and at least three years of relevant experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master's and experience in a surgical setting, with GLP experience encouraged.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Document quality assurance and scientific data following GLP standards.
• Perform animal laboratory experiments under the direction of the lab director and principal investigator.
• Support instrument and equipment maintenance/sterilization.
• Review relevant scientific literature and summarize findings.
• Record results and document outcomes of experiments in accordance with established protocols.
• Provide supervision of animals in conjunction with Center for Comparative Medicine staff.
• Assisting as a surgical technician during animal procedures.
• Provide animal anesthesia under the supervision of the investigator and clinical veterinarian.
• Perform other job related duties as assigned.
