Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine's Texas Heart Institute in Houston is seeking a Research Assistant II to support the Cardiovascular Surgery Research program under the guidance of the principal investigator. You will assist during animal surgeries for biomedical devices and help document data following GLP standards.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a basic science and three years of relevant experience; a Master's degree and MD/DVM backgrounds are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
• Three years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Document quality assurance and scientific data following GLP standards.
• Perform animal laboratory experiments under the direction of the lab director and principal investigation.
• Support instrument and equipment maintenance/sterilization.
• Review relevant scientific literature and summarize findings.
• Record results and document outcomes of experiments in accordance with established protocols.
• Provide supervision of animals in conjunction with Center for Comparative Medicine staff.
• Assisting as a surgical technician during animal procedures.
• Provide animal anesthesia under the supervision of the investigator and clinical veterinarian.

Education
