Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine’s Texas Heart Institute seeks a Research Assistant II to support the Cardiovascular Surgery Research program. Based onsite in Houston, you will assist in animal surgeries for devices like artificial hearts and LVADs, under supervision of the PI. Qualifications include a Bachelor's in a basic science and 3 years of related experience.

The role features a Monday–Friday schedule (7 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and a salary range of $52,109 to $61,304, with exempt status.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field required.
At least 3 years of relevant experience required.

Responsibilities

Document quality assurance and scientific data following GLP standards.
Perform animal laboratory experiments under the direction of the lab director and principal investigator.
Support instrument and equipment maintenance/sterilization.
Review relevant scientific literature and summarize findings.
Record results and document outcomes of experiments in accordance with established protocols.
Provide supervision of animals in conjunction with Center for Comparative Medicine staff.
Assist as a surgical technician during animal procedures.
Provide animal anesthesia under the supervision of the investigator and clinical veterinarian.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
