Description

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:


This position will provide newly certified and upcoming graduates with real-world experience as a Cardiac Sonographer learning alongside, and under the supervision of, highly experienced Cardiac Sonographers. The Sonographer will gain essential work experience and training in performing quality diagnostic echocardiography examinations efficiently and accurately in patient care settings providing them the opportunity to demonstrate their value as future healthcare professionals.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Perform echocardiography ultrasound examinations following established policy, procedure and risk management guidelines under the supervision of a staff Sonographers.

  • Communicate specific problem areas regarding any procedures by obtaining a thorough patient history and sharing this information with the reading physician to ensure a quality diagnostic examination.

  • Interact professionally with the reading physician and other medical staff to ensure the utmost quality diagnostic images.

  • Communicate in a tactful and professional manner with patients and their families offering a complete and thorough explanation of the procedure being performed.

  • Procure statistical information for daily activity sheet.

  • Safely operate the ultrasound equipment and related instruments while following established protocols.

  • Adhere to quality control and safety regulations as dictated by current established programs.

  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement process to ensure optimum continuous quality improvement of care to the patient.

  • Other duties as assigned by training Sonographer and/or Supervisor


Qualifications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


May be required to lift up to 60 lbs. 50% sitting/50% standing


WORKING CONDITIONS:


Work is performed at hospitals, clinics, and/or physician offices. Must be able to drive to and from the testing facilities in all-weather situations. Local travel required.


OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE:


Performance of clinical job duties has no significant risk of occupational exposure.


AGE SPECIFIC STATEMENT:


Individuals having regular clinical contact with patients demonstrate knowledge and skills in caring for patients (or assisting in caring for patients) of different age groups. Individuals demonstrate the ability to care for and utilize resources for patients to promote a cost effective and efficient environment for patients in the following age groups: Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric.




QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School Diploma and currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, an accredited school of Medical Sonography and registry eligible with ARDMS/CCI in Cardiac.

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Current Basic Life Support Certification

  • Favorable results of pre-employment background check including FBI Fingerprinting and child abuse clearances required, as well as a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Must complete compliance trainings upon hire including OSHA and HIPPA compliance, sexual harassment, workplace bullying, defense driving, and incident reporting,
