Job summary

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus Echo Lab is seeking a dedicated Cardiac Sonographer 1 to join a nationally accredited lab with advanced imaging. The role supports physicians and educates fellows, operating on a full-time day shift (Monday–Friday) with sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available.

The lab features modern Philips equipment with 3D and strain imaging, a clinical ladder, and opportunities for teaching and career development within a leading healthcare system.

Qualifications

• RDCS certification or eligibility required (within 1 year of hire).
• Recent hospital/healthcare experience as a sonographer or student preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with patients to obtain history and inform consent to optimize exam performance.

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus - Adult Echo Lab is looking for a dedicated Cardiac Sonographer 1 to join the Inova Fairfax Medical Center Echo Lab is an advanced echo imagining center with a strong emphasis on clinical excellence, education, innovation, and research. Our lab is nationally accredited through the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission and is comprised of over 22 sonographers and 25 physicians who support our award-winning clinical programs and hospital.

The lab has a full fleet of updated Philips machines with advanced 3D and strain imaging technology available and offers regular educational opportunities to assist in developing your knowledge and skill set. Cardiovascular Sonographers also teach cardiology fellows and sonography students. Career development is offered through a clinical ladder. This role will be a Full Time Day Shift, Monday – Friday. Sign-on Bonus & Relocation assistance eligible.

Cardiac Sonographer 1 Job Responsibilities:

• Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patients or patients' charts to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination, as evidenced by the exam results.
• Explains procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety while assuring patients cooperation, as evidence by customer satisfaction.
• Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions and/or sterile technique, as evidenced by Radiologist's satisfaction.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome, as evidence by exam results and patient satisfaction.

Cardiac Sonographer 1 Qualifications:

• Certification - Basic Life Support upon start; Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer ARDMS Registered with RDCS Certification or CCI Registered with certification for Vascular or Registry eligible and must obtain within one year; RCS Certification for Echo, or ARDMS with RVT or CCI with the RVS within one year of hire
• Licensure - None required
• Experience - Recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a sonographer or sonographer student.
• Education - Other Sonography Graduate of an accredited school/program of diagnostic medical, setting., sonography or five years specialized training in a hospital/healthcare.
