Job summary

Stormont Vail Health in Kansas seeks a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to produce two-dimensional and three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings for physician diagnosis. You will select appropriate equipment, operate the transducer, and guide patients through the exam while ensuring accurate data entry in the PACS system.

Qualifications include completion of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, registry eligibility with ARDMS/ARDMS-Sonography/CCI/ARRT accepted, and BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program through an accredited organization or on the job training in ultrasound that led to registry.
• Experience in hospital or clinical setting preferred.
• Experience in ultrasound preferred.

Responsibilities

• Selects appropriate equipment/transducer for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination/protocol. Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and performs department exam protocols. Explains process to patient and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.
• Accurately enters required data into Lumedx (PACS) system.
• Completes and participates in Quality Improvement evaluation as needed/assigned.
• Starts equipment which produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data.
• Disinfects equipment and area.
• Participates in training of Washburn University students as directed.
• Cardiac Sonographers perform IV puncture when required.
• Rotating call is a requirement of the position.
• Selects and adds correct associated examination charges as needed.
• Travel to satellite locations up to 20% as needed.
