Job summary

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute invites applications for the Director, Division of Cardiovascular Sciences (DCVS) in Bethesda, MD. The role leads scientific vision, strategic planning, and management of a large portfolio focused on cardiovascular research, training, and program development.

You will guide cross-institute collaborations, oversee grants and contracts, mentor staff, and set priorities to advance prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart, lung, blood and sleep

Qualifications

• Must possess an MD, PhD, or equivalent in a field relevant to the portfolio.
• Demonstrated leadership, management, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Experience leading complex biomedical research and training programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific vision and strategic leadership for DCVS.
• Manage portfolio budget and allocate resources effectively.
• Recruit and mentor scientists and administrators; build workforce depth.
• Lead cross-institute collaborations and engage external partners.
• Advise NHLBI leadership on program priorities and direction.
