Job summary

Mercy Hospital Washington is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular Pre-Op for a part-time role, 24 hours per week, with days shift and no weekends or holidays. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for pre-operative patients and prepare them for intra-operative procedures, ensuring documentation and communication with the surgical team are complete and timely.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong communication, organizational, and patient care skills.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records to ensure pre-operative readiness.
• Verify completion of H&Ps, consents, laboratory testing, EKGs, and other required documentation.
• Assess and document patients' physical, emotional, and clinical needs.
• Complete nursing documentation in Epic, including assessments, medications, allergies, vital signs, and pre-op checklists.
• Initiate and maintain IV access and administer medications according to policy.
• Provide pre-operative education and emotional support to patients and families.
• Communicate patient needs, delays, and schedule changes with the surgical team and family members.
• Ensure patient safety through verification processes and adherence to infection prevention standards.
• Support efficient patient flow and maintain a well-organized clinical environment.
