Team leadership
- Supervise, schedule, and train medical assistants; run daily huddles and set clear expectations for rooming, vitals, ECGs, and workflow
- Onboard new MAs, verify competencies, and conduct performance reviews
- Serve as the go-to person when the day goes sideways: add-ons, staff call-outs, delayed cases, equipment issues
OBL pre-procedure
- Conduct pre-procedure phone calls and visits: history, medication reconciliation, allergy and contrast review, and patient education
- Manage anticoagulant and antiplatelet holds and resumption per physician orders; flag diabetes medications and renal function (GFR) for contrast risk
- Confirm labs, consents, H&P, NPO status, transportation, and prior authorizations are complete before the procedure day
OBL post-procedure
- Monitor patients in recovery: vitals, access site checks (femoral, radial, pedal), distal pulses, bleeding and hematoma surveillance
- Apply and manage closure devices and manual compression per protocol; recognize and elevate complications
- Deliver discharge teaching, then make next-day follow-up calls and track wound and access site concerns
Patient communication
- Triage and return patient calls and portal messages: symptoms, medication questions, test results, and post-procedure concerns
- Escalate urgent issues to the physician the same day; document every contact in the EHR
Clinic and OBL operations
- Maintain clinical supply and device inventory, crash cart checks, and equipment maintenance logs
- Keep the OBL survey-ready: infection control, emergency drills, policies and procedures, and accreditation standards
- Coordinate the procedure schedule with front desk, scheduling, and billing so cases, authorizations, and charges line up
- Track quality metrics (complications, same-day discharges, follow-up completion) and suggest process improvements
Qualifications
Required
- Active, unrestricted Texas RN license (or multistate compact license)
- Current BLS and ACLS
- 3+ years of acute care, procedural, or cardiology nursing experience. Previous OBL experience a plus
- 1+ year in a charge nurse, lead, or supervisory role
- Experience with conscious/moderate sedation monitoring and post-procedure recovery
- Proficiency with an EHR and comfort learning new scheduling and practice-management software
Preferred
- Cath lab, IR, OBL, ASC, or cardiovascular PACU experience
- Knowledge of peripheral arterial and venous disease, limb salvage, and common vascular procedures (angiography, atherectomy, stenting, venous ablation)
- BSN; CVRN, PCCN, or CCRN certification
- Familiarity with OBL or ASC accreditation surveys and regulatory compliance
- Bilingual English/Spanish
Who thrives here
- Personable: patients and families feel at ease with you, and referring offices like dealing with you
- Highly motivated: you see what needs doing and do it without waiting to be asked
- A natural leader: you coach, hold people accountable, and earn your team's respect by working alongside them
- Exceptionally organized: you build checklists and systems so nothing depends on memory
- Calm under pressure: you prioritize clearly when a patient, a case, and a staffing gap all need attention at once
- Growth-minded: you want to help build a growing practice, not just maintain one
